Your child’s first dental visit

A common question parents have is when should I first start taking my child to see a dentist?

The old adage was to wait until 3 years old, but by that age, a child typically has had SOME teeth for up to 2.5 years! The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends the first dental visit within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth OR by age 1 year.

Did you know 1st Birthday = 1st Dental Checkup!

Although this first visit is usually short and sweet (which is the GOAL!), it establishes your child’s dental home and gives parents an opportunity to ask any questions.

The team at WMPD would love to see your child for their first dental visit! Call to schedule an exam!
