Choosing your child’s dentist is an important task that can lead to a lifetime commitment. As pediatric dentists, Dr. Sterken, Dr. Bouwens, Dr. Bolt and their dental staff understand this and treat each child as a unique individual rather than just a random patient.
Robert Sterken, DDS, MS
Dr. Bob Sterken grew up in Zeeland, Michigan. He attended Holland Christian High School, Calvin College and the University of Michigan Dental School. He also completed a Masters Degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan.
In 1981, Bob opened a pediatric dentist office in Holland and has been an active practitioner since that time. He and his wife Deb, have been very active in the community and have served on a number of boards, including Jubilee Ministries, The Bank of Holland, the Holland Community Foundation, United Way, Holland Historic Trust and The Luke Society. He is also on active staff at Holland Hospital. In addition, he enjoys travel, paddle sports and golf.
Bob and Deb have four children; Sarah, Kate, Rob & Charlie. They also have eight grandchildren.
Thomas Bouwens, DDS, MBA
Dr. Tom Bouwens grew up in Zeeland. He graduated from Hope College with a degree in chemistry. He then went on to attend the University of Michigan for Dental School and completed his residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Tom joined West Michigan Pediatric Dentistry in 2007. In 2008, he became board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is on active staff at DeVos Children’s Hospital, Holland Hospital and Zeeland Community Hospital.
Tom lives in Zeeland with his wife Teresa and their three children, Gabriel, Lydia, and Elijah. He is actively involved in his church and in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and running.
Daniel Bolt, DDS
Dr. Daniel Bolt was born and raised in Grand Rapids. He graduated from Calvin College and went on to the University of Michigan Dental School. Dan also completed his pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Michigan, and joined West Michigan Pediatric Dentistry in 2001.
Dan and his wife Kate live in Holland with their three children, Jack, Willem, and Vivian. Dan enjoys cycling, scuba diving, and hanging out with Kate, Jack, Willem, and Vivian in his spare time.
Dan has served on the board of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Holland, and is currently on the Ottawa County Head Start health advisory board. He and his wife have served on the Holland Area Young Life Committee. He is also on active staff at Holland Hospital.
